Locked medkits now have an extra chance to roll a useful medical consumable.Rare items have a greater chance to spawn in locked medkits.Filters can rarely appear in toolboxes now.More Filters can appear on vendors that normally stock them. All Grade-2 alloys will drop more often from some sources. The rare components that Technologist rank 5 can salvage, can sometimes roll prototype parts. Some prototype parts weren't correctly added to some loot (adds better variety of alloys now).A couple new prototype parts can drop from legendary enemies (adds better variety of alloys now).Common items containing low grade alloys can now spawn in large tool chests and some other containers.A few of the default placed Adrenaline Injectors are converted to real Combat Stimpaks. The variety of ammo types found in trunks, safes, and ammo boxes is greatly expanded. Some loot containers (like trunks and safes) were giving the wrong amount (too few) of ammo.Purified Water may properly cleanse fire on you now if you were already buffed from it (needs more testing).
Feel free to compress the informations though. Be adviced, some information might have been changed in later updates, is not up-to-date, so read carefully. Its a raw composition of available information of the Horizon "Patch Notes". The following table is giving you a small insight of what has been changed concering the loot system/overhaul. The following is affected: ammo, chems, food/drinks, caps, rare junk, unique junk, medical supplies. Most of these globals are only used for containers and NPCs (generally not for vendors).
This in turn makes exploring and salvaging more interesting. One thing that Horizon strives for, is to make more individual items have an actual (and sometimes more realistic) purpose now. Overall, more items feel useful and valuable. Certain junk items are even converted into real crafting ingredients (such as tools), instead of just being scrap. Horizon also gives purpose to some crafting ingredients that weren't widely used before, adding more diversity to hunting down materials. Locked containers also give more appropriate bonus loot based on the type of container (safes, ammo boxes, etc.) Many new items are added to the game to increase the feel that you're in a living world.Ĭontainers often contain more appropriate loot.
Horizon's loot system is very detailed, and covers a large array of containers and NPCs. In an unmodded vanilla Fallout 4, loot rarity is somewhat unrewarding and boring.
