Sidechaining with the Fruity Peak Controller is really easy to set up. It looks like quite a lot of work, but it really isn’t. Does anyone try to do side chain compression in FL with a say Bass and Kick I have waves c1 comp which has a sidechain input, but the input only seems. Well done! Now go to the Fruity Peak Controller on your lead channel and play with the settings to shape the reverb. Then set the mapping formula to “Inverted” and click “Accept”. In the drop-down box, click on “Peak ctrl – Peak”.Go to your reverb channel and right click on the volume slide.Go to your lead channel and open the “Fruity Peak Controller”.You can just shape the reverb however you like in the slots below your reverb plugin. Now go to your lead channel and use the “feed” knob to feed the lead into the reverb channel.Make sure it’s fully wet (no dry signal coming through). It’s now just called an “insert” channel.
Now let’s find out how to use sidechain compression to create a reverse reverb effect. In fact, you can even push the reverb volume a bit higher, without destroying your mix. This prevents muddiness or blurriness to occur. For example, when you apply sidechaining on the reverb of a lead, the reverb signal ducks when the lead hits. It can really clean up your mix quite a lot. I invite you to try this out!Īnother big benefit of using sidechain compression is the mixing aspect. It creates that typical reverse reverb effect.Īnother good practice is to use sidechain compression on a lead/sound and a kick. For example, it’s very cool and effective on a reverb. Sidechaining is a very creative method to achieve certain sounds.
It changes based on how you tweak the controls (volume, intensity, tension, etc.). If signal 1 hits, the volume of signal 2 changes. When you use “sidechain compression” however, you simply control the volume of a signal based on another signal. It limits the volume spikes of a signal at a certain time window, depending on your choices. In an extreme way, compression can be seen as a limiter. It automatically controls the volume of a signal input based on how you set it up. “Compression” is just a fancy word of saying “dynamic volume control”. So, what is sidechain compression? Compression What does it mean? Sidechain is the short name for sidechain compression. You might sometimes set your bass at 8ms and -8ms for a kick.
Remember to as well set your delay for basses at 6ms, yeah, plus 6ms. What is sidechaining?īut first, let’s clear up the word “sidechain”. But anyway, if you don’t use automatic, try setting kick at -8ms or -12ms delay. At the end you’ll know how to use reverb like a pro and create that typical reverse reverb effect. Thanks. In this lesson you’ll learn how to sidechain in FL Studio. Also, when this initially started happening i thought it was because i was using an older version, so i got a newer version of fl studio, and low and behold the problems still remain.WTF? BUT, when i click track 5, the kick sounds lower than track 1, and the distortion the bass drum had when i had the master fader selected returns. When I play the pattern with the master track selected it sounds like there's phasing problems between the two kicks, and the bass kick has a little distortion on it, but when i click track 1 those phasing problems magically go away, and the bass kick has no distortion on it. I'm in my mixing phase and I have a kick layered with, and sidechained to a bass kick(not an 808). There's this apparent glitch happening while i'm creating my track, and i'm wondering if any of you have an idea on what it is and how to get rid of it, because it's blowing my mind.
